The rest of the series, including Friends Lovers and Chocolate, The right attitude to rain, The Careful use of compliments, The comfort of saturdays.
It didnt take long the read these, but thoroughly enjoyed them. Just as I'd finished the careful use of compliments I was given the next one for christmas. Perfect timing!
Now up to date with the series, looking forward to the next one.

The Sunday Philosophy Club

From the author of "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency". Thought I'd try one of his other series'.
I enjoyed this book overall but it was abit slow in places. Started off well with lots going on, then seemed to just be padding out with not alot of progression to the story. Later on it picks up again and the end also gets more interesting.
The main character is compared to Mne Ramotswa (of No 1 Ladies), but I didnt see any comparison.
Nethertheless, it was an enjoyable book and I will continue on with this series.

Too Close to Home

This book is by the same author as No Time for Goodbye, which I really enjoyed.
I enjoyed this one just as much as the other one, a good twist at the end, which I didnt see coming, it kept me guessing till the very end. Clever plot and well written.
Recommended.

Unseen Accademials

Next book, coming out tomorrow!
Terry is still on form and writing great books! Not really into football, atall actually, but is was still a good, clever, funny read. I have to say it's not up at the top with my favourites but still worth a read!

Slumdog Millionaire

Bought this awhile ago, wasn't really that bothered about reading it but needed the shelf space!
I liked the idea and the way it was written, but there were no surprises. Haven't seen the film but knew roughly what it was about and there were no twists and nothing particulary that made you want to keep reading.
Overall, an ok book, one I can get rid of now!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.

Next Book.

Been meaning to read this for ages. Does it deserve the hype?

Read this in an afternoon, but that doesn't detract from the clever, well written story.
Not a book I'd read again but glad I took the time to read it. Gives you an insight into the mind of children with Asbergers and was very thought provoking.
Enjoyed the book and would recommend it!

The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom

Given this book to try as I like the Ladies Detective Agency Books and it's the same
author.
Was a little sceptical at first, but really enjoyed this book. Very witty and well written and an interesting storyline.

It has made me consider reading some of his other work, which is always a good review for someone's book!

Restoration

Nearly gave up with this one but perservered just in the hope it got better. It didn't. Could have been alot better, the idea was good and well written but didn't like the main character so wasn't fussed what happened to him.
An average historical fiction book, wouldn't recommend but was ok.

The Forgotten Garden

This book has got to be up at the top of the list for my favourite type of story!
It's got everything I like, a secret garden, cottage on a cliff edge, family mystery and an old creepy house.
Really enjoyed this book, very descriptive and full of intrigue. Was genuinely sad to finish this book.
A long read but well worth it!

Am starting another book, may pick this up again, not sure yet.

The Secret Life of Bees

Really enjoyed this book, only took a couple days to read but that doesn't mean it was a light read. Well written and captivating. Slightly dissapointed with the predictable ending but still worth reading.
Was waiting to read the book before I saw the film, will try to see the film now as I am interested to see if my images of the Pink Bee House are anywhere the same as the film!

Recommended.

The Life of Pi

Not sure how to review this book, without giving too much away. I did enjoy it, although like nothing i've read before. A 16 year old boy is the sole survivor of the sinking of a cargo ship. He was heading to Canada for a new life with his family, taking numerous animals from their old zoo with them. This story shows the determination against the odds of this boy, combined with his faith and knowledge of different religions, to survive on a lifeboat for 227 days, with a tiger!

An interesting read, would recommend it.

The Luminous Life of Lilly Aphrodite

Set in Berlin in 20/30's, this book is based on the life of Lilly. However, more than half of the book is about her childhood, which I enjoyed the most, but the rest of the story seemed rushed and less detailed. Only in the last part of the book did she become a film star and this, judging by the back cover, was supposed to be the main part of the book. Overall though I did enjoy this book and would recommend it, just abit dissapointed towards the end.

The White Tiger

Just started this one today, will post more when I finish it! Anyone read it? What did they think?
Only 3 days later, I've finished it. It was easy to read, not quite what I'd imagined though, expected it to be more deep and meaningful! However, I did really enjoy this book, the writer held my interest to the end and I really wanted to see where it was leading. It was written as a letter, addressed to The Premier of Beijing. He was due to be visiting and wanted to know of stories from local entrepeneurs. This was how The White Tiger saw himself and he thought The Premier should know all about him and the state of his country, although it is not as straight forward as it first seems! Thoroughly enjoyed it, would recommend it.

The Marriage Bureau for Rich People

The title reminds me of The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency, and it does have similarites.

Set in South India, this book is based on a couple who after retiring open a marriage bureau. They come across an array of different characters with different wants and needs, which keeps them on their toes.

Not alot to this book but still a light easy and enjoyable read.

The Boleyn Inheritance

The follow up to The Other Boleyn Girl. It is 1539 and Henry is looking for another wife.
This book continues with the fall-out from the time with Anne Boleyn and how those involved were carrying on having to deal with the past in the risky present.

Just as good as the first, was worried it may not live up to my expectations, but it really did.

The Other Boleyn Girl

I wanted to read this book before I saw the film. Still haven't watched the film yet but loved the book. I'm not usually into this type of book but I do find Henry VIII strangely interesting.

This historical novel is well written and captivates your imagination. I could picture living in tudor times and see the attraction to attending court and being part of that way of life, enjoying the banquets and flamboyance of the many dances and balls!

Being part of Henry's Court seemed very dangerous and volatile and you could be dismissed or worse at a moments notice if you no longer served a purpose.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and it has fed my interest in Henry and other Kings and Queens!

The Suspicions of Mr Whicher

Based on a real-life murder in 1860, this book was hard to get into. I perservered as it was a gift. The story surrounding the murder was interesting but as there was little build up to the murder I found it hard to relate to any of the characters or have any knowledge of them or sympathies for them. The book was interwoven with factual evidence and references to other books and authors writings that since followed this murder. It also went into details of the meaning of words and where they originate from. I have to admit I skimmed these parts. Generally it was a good book but could have done without all the extra bits, it would only have been half the size though!

The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency

This series consists of ten books all following the life and ways of people in Botswana, mainly the day to day running of the detective agency. These books show the slow paced way of life which you emmerse yourself in during this lovely relaxed and descriptive read. Highly recommended.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld

Terry Pratchett's Discworld Novels. Terry is my favourite author of all time. I have put them all together because they're all excellent. I do like some more than others though, the first pratchett I read was Reaper Man, and that started my love of the series!

Everyone has a favourite character or group of characters, which makes you want to read more about them and follow their exploits through the series.

I hope we are able to continue to visit Discworld for awhile to come yet and that Terry is well enough to write them!

Water for Elephants

This book was recommended by a friend and I wasn't dissappointed. It was well written and very descriptive, you could really imagine being there in the Big Top! I completely lost myself in this book and was sorry to finish it.

No time for goodbye

Wanting to tell people how good this book is was the reason I've started this blog!
It's quite an easy read and only took afew days but that's because I couldn't put it down. It's intriguing and exciting and I really didn't know how it would end. I did guess one part of it, but didn't know how or why. I would strongly recommend this book to everyone, it's now one of my favourites.
